The Cremation
Process
What do we do when
a death occurs?
Notify cremation services of Minneapolis/Saint Paul at
651-793-8730 (answered 24 hours) at the time of death.
Once the family is ready, the body is transported to our
facility. After we obtain a cremation permit from the
Medical Examiner and a signed authorization from the
next-of-kin, the body can be cremated.
What kind of
paperwork is required?
We need to gather vital statistic information for filing
of the death certificate. You may also want an obituary
placed in one or more newspapers. We can assist with
this, or you may do so directly yourself. We make no
charge for placing obituaries, but most newspapers do
make a charge for the notice.
Can we witness the
cremation?
You are welcome to witness the body (in a required
fiberboard container) being placed into the crematory
chamber and the crematory started. The chamber is closed,
so you cannot witness the actual cremation process.
What about a
Memorial or Graveside Service?
We are happy to assist with plans for a Memorial Service
or Gathering. This may be held at a church, our chapel, a
relative's home, or we can suggest other alternative
locations. We can also assist with cemetery arrangements
at a private cemetery or Fort Snelling.
What About an Urn?
Some of our
more popular urns are pictured here on our website, and we have many others to
choose from as well. If you do not desire an urn, we do
include a simple plastic container with our basic
cremation.
Planning for a
Cremation?
The cost of cremation service is presently $1,295.00, plus
a $25.00 cremation permit fee. This can be pre-paid or
paid at the time services are provided. You may register
and pre-pay by mail using our Registration
Form available here on our website.
